Location
The spectacular setting of Symonds Yat is renowned for its phenomenal river scenery, woodland expanses and limestone cliffs. There is a multitude of reputable riverside pubs and restaurants which are exceedingly popular with local residents and tourists alike, as well as plenty of delightful walking and cycle routes throughout the area plus ideal opportunities for a wide range of outdoor pursuits.
The closest village, Whitchurch, is particularly sought after, partially owing to its Primary School which has been graded as 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. The popular community-spirited village shop, Woods of Whitchurch, stocks locally-made produce, fresh fruit and vegetables, various essentials and also operates as a coffee shop.
The home at a glance
Mountain Daisy is an idyllic and characterful country cottage which is surrounded by just shy of one acre of sloping gardens which lead down to the riverside. The home itself is positioned in the centre of the grounds and surrounded by the verdant lawns, shrubs and herbaceous plants. A staircase through the expanse leads from the off-road parking area to the property.
The front door features a stained glass panel of a Mountain Daisy and this leads into the dining room - the first of two reception rooms. This boasts several delightful features including exposed beams, two lovely alcoves - which give quirky spaces to display lamps or books - and a grand bay window exhibits the spectacular view beautifully. The second reception room is used as a sitting room and this also carries a bay window, as well as an exposed stone fireplace.
The well-equipped kitchen includes plenty of cherry wood cupboards and there is a conventional oven and hob, plus space for an under-counter fridge. At the far end of the kitchen, there is a utility room-cum-boot room which leads out to the garden; this has space and plumbing for a washing machine, dishwasher and tumble dryer and space for a fridge freezer.
The ground floor of the property also houses a bathroom - complete with a corner bath and hand basin. A door leads out to the garden, so if one gets muddy in the great outdoors there is plenty of space to freshen up. A cloakroom - including a hand basin and WC - is next door.
The top floor of the property includes a galleried landing, four bedrooms and a family bathroom. Of the four bedrooms, three are large enough to accommodate double beds and the master has its own door leading into the family bathroom, which has a P-shaped bath with a shower overhead, plus a vanity unit which has a marble counter, a WC and a chrome heated towel rail. The master bedroom and second bedroom both boast spellbinding views over the Wye Valley and River Wye.
